Canskate

The Canskate program focuses on the development of six fundamental movements organized in six stages of learning, with an optional 7th level for skaters who want to move into figure skating. The skills are arranged in progressions, from very simple to the more complex. Each stage has a primary focus. Once the skills on each stage are mastered, a badge is awarded. The series of badges include Stage badges, Fundamental Movement badges and Fitness badges.

   *** NEW THIS YEAR ***

All learn to skaters will now be called Canskate. We have removed the term PreCanskate. The skaters that are new to the ice or are still in the very beginning stages of learning to skate will have the same great ratio of coaches and/or assistants, but will now benefit from more ice time.

Our coaches will routinely be assessing each skater and move them to the next level (coloured group) as the skater continues to progress throughout the 12 week session.

Canskate sessions for the 2023-24 season will be comprised of 2 -12 week sessions. October - December and January- March
