Nickel Blades Skating Club is excited to present the 2023/2024 fundraising plan. The following campaigns present our StarSkaters and their families with a variety of opportunities throughout the year to earn valuable credits toward their end-of-year fundraising obligation. Fundraising credits will also be available for volunteer hours toward competition and special NBSC events, so stay tuned for more opportunities to participate in club activities!

The fundraising obligations for Star 1+ is now $200 per skater and for PreStar it is $100.  A second skater in the family will be charged an additional $50.  Then, for each additional skater $25 to a maximum of $300. 

We are also implementing the following additional options to help everyone meet their obligations in an easier format. 

• Volunteer Credits: To be applied like Bingo Credits. Bingo will receive 75 credits per session attended.   Event (i.e., trivia night) and Competition volunteers will receive 25 credits per 2 hour session up to a max of 100 credits.  

• Fundraising Incentives: For every $100 over your obligation you receive a $25 credit towards next season registration for that Skater.  

Fundraising Opportunities

Ontario Skaters Promotional Contest

Early September – Early May

All StarSkaters will be issued a Skate Ontario lottery book with tickets that can be sold to family, friends, and your community. This season’s fabulous prizes include a 2024 Nissan Kicks, Dyson Package, Apple Package, $1,000 Amazon gifts cards, Meta VR Headsets, and Apple Airpods. (Please note that filled tickets must be returned to the club by the indicated deadline and no money is required to be returned to the club for tickets sold.) 

Delta Gaming Bingo

Year-round

Delta Gaming has provided NBSC with a unique opportunity for members to volunteer their time in exchange for credit toward their skater’s fundraising obligation. Bingo sessions run monthly on Friday and Saturday evenings. (Please note that a brief on-line and shadow training session is required.) FlipGive

Year-round

NBSC is registered with FlipGive, the shopping rewards app where members and their families can shop online at one of FlipGive’s many partners. Purchases made through FlipGive earns cashback credit toward your skater’s fundraising obligation.  

Bottle Drive

Year-round

Save up and collect those empty beer and liquor bottles from family and friends. Money that is earned from redeeming bottles and cans can be sent to the club, where the amount can be directly taken off the skater’s fundraising obligation.

Foodland Tagging

Early October

Garson Foodland is great place for skaters to greet the public and collect donations for the club. Skaters will have the opportunity to select time slots over the designated weekend. NBSC clubwear and skating costumes are encouraged to promote our club spirit!

Fielding Estate Winery

Late October – Mid November

Fielding Estate Winery proudly supports our local community organizations by helping you raise money to directly benefit NBSC. Fielding Estate Winery offers a diverse selection of wines at a variety of price points that is sure to please any gift givers, receivers, hosts, etc.  Pick-up for all orders will have a designated location and time frame.

Christmas Cheer Raffle

Mid November – Late December

NBSC will have a number of prizes to be drawn just in time for the holiday season. Books of raffle tickets will be available to skaters to sell to family, friends, and the community at $5 per ticket or 3 for $10. All ticket sales go dollar for dollar toward that skater’s fundraising obligation.
